    2. SAMUEL RIGGS & MARY RIGGS to WILLIAM H. RIGGS Registered 11th March 1844 This indenture made this 8th day of March in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred & forty four between Samuel RIGGS & Mary RIGGS, his wife, both of the County of Hawkins & State of Tennessee of the one part & William Henderson Riggs, grandson of the said Samuel RIGGS, of the County of Grainger & State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Samuel RIGGS & Mary, his wife, & in consideration of the sum of five dollars to them in hand paid by the said William Henderson RIGGS for & in consideration of the trusts & stipulations hereinafter to be expressed. Have bargained and sold & by these present doth bargain and sell unto the said William Henderson RIGGS the following described tracts, parcels & lots of land with all the appurtenances to the same in any way belonging, that is to say, one tract or parcel of land on which the said Samuel now resides situated partly in Hawkins & partly in Jefferson Counties & is supposed to contain between twelve and thirteen hundred acres be the same more or less upon the waters of fall creek & adjoining the lands of the late George T. GILLASPIE, Richard ROBINSON & others & includes or is made up of Several Smaller tracts. One other tract situated in the County of Hawkins aforesaid known by the name of Enos place & is estimated to contain two hundred acres & adjoining the lands of David BALLARD & others. One other tract of land estimated to contain Sixty acres situated in the County of Grainger upon the top of Clinch Mountain where the road from Beans Station to Tazwell crosses said mountain & adjoins the lands of Thomas WHITESIDES, also one other tract of land in Hawkins County aforesaid containing by estimation One hundred & fifty acres, which last named tract is made up of two smaller tracts and is called and known by the name of the Fines BOATMAN tract on the south side of the Holston River. Also one other tract of land situated in Jefferson County in the State aforesaid estimated to contain from, One thousand to twelve hundred acres lying & being near to Morristown & adjoining the lands of John MORRISON, Henry RIGGS & others, said last mentioned tract consists of several smaller tracts or parcels of land heretofore conveyed to the said Samuel RIGGS, also three half acre lots in the Town of Russelville in the County of Jefferson aforesaid on one of which lots James YOUNG now resides and another of them----------------------- now resides & the third lot adjoins the lot of William POLENSVILLE. To have & to hold said several tracts, parcels and Lots of land with all the appurtenances to the same in any way belonging to the said William Henderson his heirs and assigns forever in feesimple. But subject never the less to the following trust and conditions, that is to say. In trust to appropriate the rents & profits & possession of said several tracts & parcels of lands for & during the natural life of the said Samuel RIGGS to the appointment of the said Samuel RIGGS made either by himself or any agent by him lawfully writing & the hand & seal of the said Samuel to be constituted & furthermore in trust after the death of the said Samuel RIGGS to dispose of the possession of said tracts, parcels & lots of land & to appropriate the rents & profits & issues of the same according to the appointed Jessee RIGGS , son of the said Samuel and after the death of the said Samuel in trust to convey my part or all of said lands tracts lots or parcels of land according to the appointment of the said Jessee so as to vest a legal & valid title in said lands so to be conveyed to said appointees. And the said Samuel RIGGS & Mary, his wife, convenant and agree that the said William Henderson Riggs his heirs & assigns forever that subjects to the trusts & conditions aforesaid they will for themselves their heirs and personal representatives warrant & defend said tracts & parcels of land with the appurtenances to the said William Henderson RIGGS his heirs & assigns forever against the lawful claim of all persons whomsoever. In Testimony whereofthe said Samuel RIGGS & Mary, his wife, have hereunto set their names and affixed their Seals this day here first above mentioned. The Mary RIGGS mentioned in this Deed of Trust is Samuel's second wife; the widow of Thomas LEE.........No marriage record as of yet.
