I am a Riggs decendent. My mother was born Elsie Marie Riggs BD- August27, 1911, in Harris county Texas, D - Oct.19, 2002, Houston, Harris county, Texas. She was one of 7 children - two still living.in Houston, Texas. Her father was Samuel Merritt Riggs, Born-March 14, 1866 in Texas. d. December 14, 1935 in Houston, Harris county, Texas. He married Jeanette Susan Teal.. April 29,1895 . Samuel Merritt Riggs (my grandfather) was the youngest of 4 children and the only son of (my g grandfather) Samuel Merritt Riggs and Sarah Jacinto Calvert Penn. -- Samuel Merritt Riggs b. December 14,1831in Livonia, Livingston county, New York, and d. January 11, 1866 in Harris county, Texas - he is buried in a family cemetary in Crosby, Texas. Sarah Jacinto Calvert Penn, (my g grandmother) b October 07, 1838 in Texas, d.November 22, 1868 in Texas.- she is buried in a family cemetary in Crosby, Texas. (my g g grand father) Merritt Woodruff Riggs, b.November 07,1800 in Oxford! , Conneticut and d. December 27, 1870 in Avon, New York. He married Harriet Kellogg (my g g grandmother) May 1825 in Avon or Lavonia, Livingston county, New York. (my ggg grandfather) Samuel Riggs born Abt. 1774 in Litchfield, Connecticut, and died 1848. He married(1) Betsy Rigby.(my ggg grandmother) She was born Abt. 1778 in Litchfield, Connecticut.She died in 1800. He married (2) Catherine Shaw. She was born Abt. 1778... (my gggg grandfather) Jeremiah Riggs, married Anna Woodruff, daughter of Jacob Woodruff and Lucy Farnam. His parents (my ggggg grandparents) were Ebenezer Riggs and Rachel Peck.
