It is probably not the age of Samuel Riggs that is the reason Edward picked up his pay. The distance was more than likely the problem. They had to go to the district in which they served and it was more than likely quite a distance. He may have picked up money for other people too. Wherever the paymaster was?? Harriette Riggs
Harriette: Well I guess I am not sure why Edward was getting his pay. It made sense the it was because of his age, he was 16 or 17 when he first entered the North Carolina line.
