Shirley, Do you have any family in Oklahoma now; or in the 1930's/1940's? There was a Charles Riggs and a Grace Riggs that attended the funeral of my gr grandfather in 1949, Grove, Delaware, OK. We have a Riggs line, but they are back in the early 1800's. I don't have any of them traced down to more current times. They were in KY, TN and MO, and maybe OK. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HSDBAIB/1261 Message Board Post: I am trying to find out about this family. Leroy aka Lee Riggs was born in Alabama about 1821 (not for sure). He was from Calhoun County Alabma or rather the area that would become Calhoun County. He married Nancy Sims who I am assuming to be the daughter of a man by the name of Hutson Sims. There is a land record with both Hutson and Leroys name on it. | Leroy eventually moved to Arkansas without Nancy. He had at least a brother-can't remember the name right now. But Leroy and his brother both lived in Saline county in 1860. Leroy's children by were (at least some of them) Georgia, Nancy, Martha, Adaline, Lucy, Richard Thanks

Sorry Vicky it's taken me so long to get back to you. And yes, I would love further info on the lines of Nancy - I only have very limited information about her child Harriet. I know nothing of the others. Here is the information I have on Nancy Riggs-Keller's siblings: John and Sarah Wilson's children: 1. Rachel W. Riggs - born about 1803, married Valentine Brougher on March 27, 1827 in Sand Creek Township, IN (Jennings County). 2. Eliza Riggs - born about 1803, married John J. Bare on June 5, 1823 in Sand Creek Township also. 3. Henry Riggs - born c. 1806, married twice - first wife was Cynthia Prather on April 1, 1827 in Sand Creek. Cynthia was born Feb 27, 1806 and she died Feb 17, 1834. Henry remarried a Eraminta Mae on July 28, 1835. I don't know if Cynthia and Henry had any children but I do know that Henry and Eraminta had at least one child - George Washington Riggs, born December 25, 1842, died Dcember 2, 1927. George married Hemma Higgins (first wife) and later Emma Jane Green. George and Emma had four children - Edgar Moore, Myrtle Gren, Mabel Catherine, and Nellie May. I have more info about this line as well. 4. Nancy Ann Riggs - you of course already know about her. 5. Oscar Martin Riggs - born 1815, married to Cynthia Ann Eddelman April 9, 1838, then married second wife Catherine Umensetter on October 4th 1846. Both marriages in Jennings County. Martin died sometime between 1860-1869. The family had moved to Illinois (Jefferson County) in either 1859 or 1860. Catherine Umensetter-Riggs died August 3, 1918 (she was born Dec. 26, 1828 in Virginia) and she is buried in Panther Fork Cemetery, Jefferson County, Illinois. I have been unable to find Cynthia Ann Eddelman-Riggs burial site, I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in Jennings County, IN but have yet to find it. I believe she died in childbirth - but it's a guesstimate. The Eddelman family is very interesting if anyone has a connection to this line - I have some info on them too. I have a ton of information about Oscar Martin Riggs and descendents as this is my direct line. If anyone's interested in further info about him please email me. Diana Croft
Diana, John Hancil Kellar's mother was Anna Mary Brougher and was an older sister to Valentine Brougher. Thus, Valentine was John Hancil Kellar's uncle and also his brother-in-law. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, April 19, 2002 7:14 PM Subject: [RIGGS-L] Riggs-Keller > Sorry Vicky it's taken me so long to get back to you. Hi Listers, I wanted to share something really wonderful with you. I spent a whole dollar and sent to Van Buren Co AR for my John Thomas Riggs and Martha Conway's marriage certificate. I received it yesterday and I am in heaven. I now know that he was 22 in 1882 and she was 17 and they were married in Shiloh (I had no idea of his bd before now and I now have verification of hers). On my GMother's SS app, she said she was born in Shiloh, AR ...well there are 6 counties in AR with towns named Shiloh, so I know she was born in Van Buren where her parents were married....all that info for a mere $1.00..... Life is wonderful, Carol
