I'm trying to find out about my genealogy on Riggs. If any one can help. My mother was from Grundy county,Missouri and Illinois area. Mother Doris Moss(Riggs)Of Trenton Mo.Her father was William Franklin Riggs. Mary Branson(Moss)
Ginny, Do you have any Riggs that came into TN, MO or OK? Looking for Riggs that might belong to a Samuel Riggs who married Sebrina Splawn. They may have lived more in MO and even ARK than OK. Three states come together at the corners, more or less, in the area I am interested in; the Grove, Jay area of Deleware Co, OK. The state lines of OK, MO, KS, and even ARK are close to this area. Does anyone out there have any kind of record that establishes my ggg grandfather Augustus Riggs (md. Elizabeth Ann Treadaway, died in a prison camp in 1861 in Brooklyn NY) as the son of Jesse Riggs and Rebecca Ponder? Augustus is listed in the 1850 Itawamba Co. MS census as 23 years old, which would put his birthyear as 1827, but there is only one son listed with Jesse and Rebecca in the 1830 census, who is presumably Henderson, born in 1830. Of course we all know that census records can be way off. I got the information that I have about Augustus' parents from those elusive "family records" which can also be pretty far off the track. It's my gut feeling that Augustus belongs to Jesse and Rebecca, but I have no proof. Anyone? Thanks for your help, Ginny NorthGet more from the Web. For Charles E. Riggs: Could you tell me a little bit more about your Riggs family line? I have a Samuel Riggs born 1796, who married Sabrina Splawn, daughter of John Splawn. I had thought this Samuel was the same Samuel who belonged to Bethuel Riggs of Morristown, NJ. I may be wrong. I believe this family lived in TN or KY, MO, and OK. Sue

For Thad Greer, Do you have any Samuels in your Riggs line? We have a Samuel Riggs born 1796, not sure where, maybe TN, KY, or NJ. He married Sabrina Splawn, and I believe she was born in TN or MO. Our Riggs seem to have stayed put and died in the same area, except maybe a Giles Riggs, Jr. who may have left. To my knowledge, I have no family in Oklahoma. The Charles Riggs and Grace Riggs that you mentioned are not in my lineage. I do appreciate your response. Sincerely,
Obit of Ira Riggs, sent to me e-mail by a OHMEIGS subscriber. Death of Ira Riggs Well known and Highly Respected Citizen Passed Away at His Home Sunday Afternoon. (this would have been Sunday, Feb. 25, 1917) Ira Riggs, aged 58, who has been suffering from tuberculosis for more than a year, passed away at his home on Mechanic Street, Sunday afternoon. He leaves a wife and one son, Thomas Riggs of Mason City. Mr. Riggs was born and raised in Harrisonville and later came to Pomeroy where he has since made his home. He was united in marriage to Miss Flora Casto. He is also survived by a brother Robert of Clifton. I have his death certificate and it names Beechgrove Cemetery in Pomeroy as his burial place. Anything else that you want and I have, I will be glad to share with you. Don't have anything on the Casto's except a couple of names. Thank you. do you have a Samuel Riggs in your line? He would have married a Splawn in the early 1800's. On the other end of the spectrum, do you have a Charles or Grace Riggs who might have moved on into MO or OK in the 1940's? Deleware Co., OK.
