For instance, for Edward III and his 11 children, Wallace picks up only Samuel (1681) and his descendants but does not follow Samuel's brothers or sisters. I have not reached the point yet where I have filled in any of these blanks either. Hopefully, the information will come together. If I get anything about your Samuel I will pass it on. Carolyn sent me a copy of her book also but somehow our systems don't make the transfer well. Could you send on the electronic file so I can see if maybe that might work? He married Sebrina Splawn. And there is another book, "Genealogy of the Riggs Family", by John Wallace, published 1901. If anyone has this book would you do a look up for me: is there a Samuel Riggs born 1796 in it? He married Sebrina Splawn. Carolyn Greogory kindly sent me a copy of the book More on Riggs, but so far I have not found Samuel in it. Sue

    3. Leo, My Samuel Riggs was born in 1796, but I have no definite birth place for him. He died in 1842 Campbell County, KY. He married Sebrina Splawn born 1805 TN. They appear to have moved into MO for sure, and maybe OK later on. I took a look at some material on your Samuel. Wasn't he born in 1794? I don't show a 'Grace' as yet but my records for 1800-1900 still have many holes. My g-grandfather, father of Charley, had ten sons and I haven't worked on finding all the spouse(s) names. So far I have been concentrating on the early settlers and trying to follow their many trails. It look like when the clan was around Illinois, in mid to late 1800's, they dispersed in several directions so I know this is where the hardest work is going to be. Many of these brothers married women from the Vandevender family. Charley's wife was Arvella (Valley) Vandevender. I'll keep my eye out for a 'Grace', Sarah ==== RIGGS Mailing List ==== *************************RIGGS ARCHIVE SEARCH************************** To search the archives: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl

    3. Sarah, That's what I thought; but is there another? I can't seem to find one, yet that Samuel married Elizabeth Sutton, and died in 1835 and she according to one record, outlived him. Our Samuel married Sebrina Splawn, and we have for a death date for him of 1842. He probably did not marry twice. Have you seen another Samuel born in 1796? Anywhere? 2. Hi Sue, My Grandfather and his family settled in Ok. Our Riggs line also includes Samuel; then Timothy, Reubin, John, Thomas, then Henry Harvey who, I believe, brought the family to Ok. One of his sons was Charley who I called 'Uncle Charlie' in my youth. He and his family ultimately ended up in California, along with my Dad. Charley was the holder of the family Bible that supposedly records family history from 1848 to 1910. I have just recently started gathering data on the Riggs family so am still a novice. Hopefully before long I will have more answers than questions. Nice meeting you, Sarah (Riggs) de Bree

    3. Mary, I also am trying to locate Riggs family in MO, Ok, or maybe ARK. That was a Charlie Riggs and a Grace Riggs who attended the funeral of my gr grandfather, Luther Edward Lewis in 1949 Grove, Deleware, OK. I think they are family, but since I don't know any Riggs of present day time, it is hard to be sure. My ancestor was Samuel Riggs born 1796, not sure where who married Sebrina Splawn. they had 12 children. One of their girls, Charity, or Chantz Riggs married our Thomas William Hutton. They lived in Neosho, KS. More may have followed them to KS, too. Do you recognize these names? I can send more detail and the names of the children if you like.
