I have found two William Riggs families I wonder if anyone can add more information for: William Riggs born abt 1768 of Nelson County, KY; he married 28 Feb 1788 Bardstown, Nelson, KY, Ann Stayton born abt 1758 of Nelson, KY. They had three children: William Riggs born abt 1790 of Springfield, Washington, Kentucky Joseph Riggs born abt 1792 of Srpingfield, Washington, Kentucky Mary Riggs born abt 1794 of Springield, Washington, Kentucky Would Samuel Riggs born 1796 fit here? and William Riggs born 1765 NJ and died in Lee Co., VA. He married abt 1790 a Sarah Richomond born bet 1770-1775 NC. They had a son, David, born 1797 VA, and died after 1860, who had a son William born 1832 VA that married Margaret Neely born 1836. Could Samuel Riggs born 1796 be of this family? Or does anyone know more about a William Riggs who died about 1828, leaving a will that was probated Jan 1828? My Samuel Riggs witnessed his will. Steade, Thank you for your response. That seems to be my problem everywhere I turn-- there is not a Samuel of 1796. And yet there is. Do you know if that William might have been in TN? But William may have died 1815; not sure. there was not a brother, Samuel, according to what records that I have. Steade Craigo, Sacramento, CA

I am still looking for info on the parents of Leroy A. Riggs (also known as Lee) who was born in Alabama in 1821. He married Nancy Sims daughter of Hutson Sims in Alabama in 1842. At some point he moved to Arkansas with his children: Georiga (aka Georgiana), Nancy, Martha, Adaline, Lucy, Richard. Nancy his wife had died I think previous to 1860 he married two other times to a Lidia Holomon and a Elizabeth Johnson. In Arkansas Leroy lived in Saline County.
On the person with the surname FIELDS: I have a little on the Riggs line of Thomas and Leah hunt. I am pretty sure it is the same line of Anne Riggs who married Moses Splawn of our line. I thought I had a connection with some Riggs now living in Delaware Co., OK, that may have come from Ark, or MO, but now I am not so sure. They have a Samuel Reed Riggs born in 1855. His daddy, as far as I can tell, was a Richard D. Riggs, not much on him at all. I suspect he was born about 1825/1830.Hope you find your Leroy. One of Samuel Reed Riggs' boys was Charles Riggs. He attended the funeral of my gr grandfather in 1949 in Grove, OK. But, if there is a connection, it is a round about one. Another lady sent me some census information on an Azariah Riggs, born abt 1804 of TN, the same region I think my Samuel born 17965 comes from. He had a son named Azariah. I am thinking this may prove important, may be another part of the family. In 1850 he was 46, a laborer and born in TN. Maybe my Samuel was born in TN too. This is our only connection so far, I think, to this line of Riggs Thomas and your Rebecca belong to. But there is a Nancy Riggs who married another Splawn of ours, who could be from that same line. Also I have a Samuel Riggs born 1796 probably KY or TN, who I have not found parents for yet. But he could be the son of a William Riggs, as Samuel witnessed a will written by a William Riggs, which was probated in 1828, Ray Co., MO. I am in the process of researching this now. So far, haven't found much. Sue
One of Thomas' daughters, Anne, married a Splawn of our family line. So far that is all the connections we have with Thomas and family line. I have a Samuel Riggs born 1796 probably Ky or TN, but so far I can't find parents for him. His father could be a William Riggs, as Samuel was witness to a will written by a William Riggs, and probated in 1828, Ray Co., MO. I am in the process of researching this now. Haven't come up with much yet. But Samuel had a son named Azariah, and a kin lady sent me a census record of another Azariah Riggs which I found quite interesting. I think we are on to some connection here. I have a mystery Riggs I am trying to locate more information on. I don't know for sure which Riggs this is. I need help. There is a Riggs Cemetery in Rogers Co., called Riggs Cemetery #3, that has a lot of Sullivans buried in it, but if there are Riggs, their graves may not be marked; and then there is one with no name just a location: Sec. 26, R15E, T22N, 6 miles south of Oolagah, Rogers Co., that has Rose E. Riggs, 1865-1901. She is there with two small infants of the Riggs name, Joseph B.H., and Ethel F Riggs. There is a Gillis infant 1888-1891. And there are Busters buried there, several children, one twenty year old, a James Buster, and a James Buster at age 71 when he died. No dates given for him. Who did Rose E. (?) Riggs marry? Was Rose E. a Riggs before marriage, or a Gillis or a Buster? Do you know that if you put the name James Buster in Ancestry.com that you will come up with a wife for him named Lucy Sullivan Younger? Does anyone out there very wise in knowledge of the Younger and Dalton outlaw gangs know of any connection between them and the Busters and Riggs? I have looked at some sites for outlaws on the above mentioned, but so far have not found a Riggs or Buster connection other than the one I mentioned above. It looks like there must be a connection, to have these different people all buried in the same cemetery. And for the Sullivans in Riggs Cemetery #3, the name is found several times in the Younger family names. Does anyone have any idea who the infant Hattie B. Gillis 1888-1891 might have belonged to? Just a very Curious Thing. Sue ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Join Juno today!
