Hi, Bobby and fellow searchers, Has anyone ever looked into the possibility that Rachel might have been a Tipton, since they named one of their daughters Lavina Tipton Riggs? I did a little bit of checking awhile back, and found an Aquilla Tipton from NJ who had one or two children who moved to TN. He did have a daughter Rachel, but as I recall the dates were too far off. It's a possibility, anyway--- Ginny North ginnynorth@msn.com ----- Original Message ----- From: BGCarwile@aol.com Sent: Tuesday, July 30, 2002 3:38 PM To: RIGGS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [RIGGS-L] Wife of Jesse RIGGS [1758--1832] Was she Rachel EVANS?...... I recently found info in an EVANS page that states she was an EVANS but gives wrong birth date on her. It states her date of birth at 1797 which was 6 years after she married if this is the right Rachel EVANS and right Jesse RIGGS. Jesse RIGGS brother Clisby RIGGS married a Jane EVANS so there could be a connection there. For the father of Elizabeth Jackson, you should look for her and her husband as grantees of the deed indexes in the county in which they lived. The father's name would be listed as grantor. Hi everyone New England Marriages Prior to 1700, by Clarence Almon Torrey, published by GenPubCo 1995, reports the wife of Edward Riggs III to be "Mary (Munn)?" The use of brackets and question mark implies that it cannot be proved from the sources Torrey used but that he believed it might be correct (possibly using the same evidence that Evan has quoted - Mary Riggs being the daughter of Daniel Munne is the most likely reason for Daniel to leave her all his estate). Edward III was almost certainly married to Mary Munn; the following is from my e-mail about Mary Munn from January 2002:
