There was a young boy by the name of Chris Riggs that lived with my great-uncle and aunt, Thomas L. (Crenshaw) Hinken and Mathilda Hinken in Morgan County near Stover, MO. Another great-uncle and aunt of mine, George and Ida Helmig, raised a little girl named Leota Riggs (born 04 November 1896). (Leota was about three years old when she came to live with the Helmigs.) It is believed that Chris and Leota were brother and sister and that their parents were Samuel G. Riggs and Martha Crenshaw (born 1860). Sam and Martha were married 08 October 1877 in Benton County, MO. Martha was a sister to my great-uncle, Thomas L. (Crenshaw) Hinken. Is it possible that the Chris I mention is the one you are searching for? Evie Gerhart

However, a dear friend of ours is a Barbara Poe who is a daughter of Will Tupman (son of H. Irwin Tupman). She is part of a pioneering familly of Kern County, California. I dabble in genealogy as a hobby so Barbara asked me to look at her genealogy. She indiicated that you have much information on the Tupmans and I have chosen you as the "starting point" of my search. I have a few questions for you. 1. Homer or Hamer Tupman? I keep getting information where the spelling is "Hamer" and "Homer" Irwin Tupman. Do you know which one is correct? 2. One of my biggest stumbling blocks is knowing towns/cities/countries of origin. My preliminary genealogical data indicates Kentucky, the Carolinas, and England as unconfirmed possibilites. Any help that you can provide would certainly be appreciated!

However, as you will see below in the note on his parentage, he could be one of three William Riggs, all baptised within an appropriate timescale.

It is believed that this Bible was in the hands of Elizabeth Riggs, never married, who lived in the home of Clisby Riggs, at least untill his death in ca 1844. Clisby left a sum of money for his sister Elizabeth's care after his death. The Bible could be in the hands of a descendent of Clisby or one of his sons, Ellis or Edward. If anyone know the whereabouts of this Bible please contact Jim Hansird ljhan2319@yahoo.com. Thanks, Jim
