    1. [RIGGS-L] Reuben Riggs, Appanoose County, Iowa
    2. Jeryl Bennett
    3. "Reuben Riggs came to the county soon after Amos Harris and entered upon the practice of law. He was a rough-hewn frontiersman with but little education, but was possessed of an unusual amount of native common sense and had a high legal mind. In 1857 he was elected county judge of Appanoose County, for a term of four years, being the first county judge under the code of 1851. At the termination of his office as county judge, he removed to Union county, Iowa, whence he removed to Kansas. He there froze to death in a storm while crossing a large unsettled prairie." 2. Someone surely has a William Riggs who wrote his will in 1828 Jackson County, MO, and it was proved that same year. Don't know when he would have been born, but I'm guessing he was born 1780/1790 time frame; I'm thinking he was either a brother, uncle or maybe father to our Samuel Riggs, born 1793/1796, maybe TN. Maybe SC. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Join Juno today! 2. Mildred, If your Arthur Riggs came out of TN, do you know when he was born? I am seeking information on a Samuel Riggs born 1793/1796, who I am pretty sure came of TN, following the usual migration route, into Chariton Co., MO. He married Sebrina Splawn, who was born 1806 in MO somewhere, and they lived in Jackson, Ray, Daivess and Grundy Counties, MO. Samuel died about 1842, and some years later, Sebrina married Peter Goodman. That is when she moved to Grundy County. I think Samuel had a brother, father, or uncle named William Riggs. Samuel and John Splawn witnessed the will of this William in Ray County, MO, 1828. Also in Jackson County in in the 1830's was Timothy Riggs, Jr. I have wondered if Samuel was the son of Timothy Jr. Sue ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 2. David H. Riggs, Do you think any of your Riggs would relate to a Samuel Riggs who married Sebrina Splawn in MO. She was born in Mo about 1806, I don't yet know where Samuel was born. I'm thinking he came out of TN to MO with the Splawn family. They were in Chariton, Jackson, Ray, Daviess, and lastly Grundy Counties, MO. There are some Riggs now in Delaware Co., MO, close to where more of my family live. I have talked to some of them, like Pearl Riggs Blevins, but we are not sure if they are really related to our Riggs. 3. Albert W. Riggs married Jane Adline Perrymore in Tennessee. Jane Adline apparently died in Pope County. Albert W.Riggs, age 30, married America Bird 20, May 18, 1854 in Pope County, Arkansas.America's father was Liberty Bird. I don't know who Albert W.'parents were but he came to Arkansas from Lawrence County, Tennessee. He was probably related to my family because my Aunt, Nettie Mae Riggs Nations called Liberty Riggs, who lived in California and apparently went there from Pope County, a cousin. Wish I had started working on genealogy sooner. 2. I don't know a Kathleen Riggs from Arkansas; but at one time I thought they might relate, as some Riggs live in Delaware Co. OK, even today, who I thought were our relations, but they might not be, except indirectly, my marrying into an associated family line. Many, many Riggs!
