    3. Is the spelling of the grandsons' surnames in any way similar to RIGGS? A variation of it? What counties were involved and what general time frame? Sometimes people changed spelling of their names or had it changed for them. If they did it themselves, they may have had excellent reasons for doing so, and I don't mean your tradition skeleton in the closet. Just a thought. 3. From the will of Reuben Riggs we know that he had a son William, daughters Phebe (unmarried), Mary Morgan, and Margaret Poor. The names of the grandsons imply that he had four other daughters, who married in turn Mr. Henderson, Mr. Condon, Mr. Runnels/Reynolds and Mr. Norton. This is the simplest answer--the real truth may be more complicated, such as multiple marriages for one daughter. WILL: Clara M. Parker, "Giles County, Tennessee Will Abstracts 1814-1900," p. 115. RIGGS, REUBEN -- will written 1833; to wife Mary Riggs tract of land which I now live on, all kitchen furniture and at her death to be equally divided among my four children: Phebe Riggs, William Riggs, Mary Morgan & Margaret Poor. To my grandsons Jeremiah Henderson, William Condon, Reuben W. Runnels & Thomas P. Norton each two dollars. Karen
