Hello, I'm looking for my GGfather, Thomas William/ John Thomas Riggs b ca 1860 supposedly in IL, married Martha Conway 1882 Van Buren AR (fact), left before the 1900 census(fact), supposedly went to Durant OK, opened a candy store, had a new family and died around 1940. If any of this sounds familiar please contact me. My mother is 76 years old and I would like to find her GFather for her. The last time she saw him she was about 10 years old. Carol: I'm sorry, this doesn't connect to any of my direct line. My line origingates in Mass. in about 1636 and to N.J. then to N.C. and East TN. Several of the Riggs line moved to Kentucky and North but I haven't followed them as yet. The only Riggs that I am familar with that end in Ill. is Samuel Riggs, born in South Carolina, moved to McMinn Co. TN in about 1828 and left in 1850(?), moved to Indiania then to Ill. with some of his family. His father was Thomas who migrated to S.C. from N.C. and is a brother of Captain Edward Riggs who passed away in 1820 in Jefferson Co. TN at 99+ years old and my gggggrandfather.
