Thanks so much for the resource info, as well as the warning-well noted! A semi interesting personal irony; A couple yrs back I had to make a trip to upstate NY, after which I had an intense draw to return(which I have a few times now) for no explanable reason, just a vague feeling of "fit" & comfort. Then just a few wks. ago my brother informed me of greatgrandfather being from upstate NY, and the other day learning that there is a "Riggsville" right in the area of where I haunt(Catskills). Needless to say what my next trip out there will consist of. Cheers!

She does not have e-mail but has more information on the Porter Riggs linage then I. Her name is Joan Nesiba. Her phone is 308-355-5527. I don't know how I got the Boone name mixed in with you. Saw it further down on another message. Of interest to you might be that I have the World War I Navy dogtag of Porter Riggs, I believe the son of my grandfather's, Ed Riggs, brother. I can monitor an reply from you on this bulletin board as membership is not required.

Seems there were several "branches" of this family and they didn't all come from the same tree. Be sure to check your sources from documentation of "facts". Just because someone wrote it in a book, doesn't necessarily mean it is so. Good Luck in your search.

The Riggs Surname Web site. The DAR library and also check PERSI. There are a couple of books that have been done on the Riggs. That should really get you going on your research. This is all I know but hoping to learn more.
I saw your post of Timothy Riggs and his children. You have that Timothy has a child named Jacob. I have a Jacob Riggs in my line from Morris County, NJ and that is as far as I can trace my line back to. I have that he was born 3-2-1769, unknown where and died 6-17-1797 in Morris County NJ. He married Rachel Gurrin in 1791 and she was born on 6-19-1768 and died on 3-1-1806. They had three children, Lewis born 6-21-1793, Elias born 12-22-1794 and Mary born 10-27-1796. Do you have any information on this Jacob, son of Timothy? Could my Jacob be the same Jacob? There might be another brother named Philo (unconfirmed). Hezekiah married Annis Rigby, children were: Amos Riggs (b. 1810), Samantha Riggs (b, 1813), Ebebezer Clinton (b. 1820). Elizabeth Riggs (b. 1830), Burret Riggs (b. 1833), Hamilton Riggs (b, 1835), and Aba Riggs (b. 1837). I have received confirmation from others that Hezekiah's wife's first name was Annis not Annie. I hope this helps. I too am trying to connect that next generation.

I did not know either of them. My grandfather moved to Brewster Nebraska in the late 1800's and died in 1934. I was only 2 years old at the time. He came from Kankaee Illinios. He was a railroad telegrapher and became a business man and lawyer. I don't know to much more. I have some of his old school books and other papers. Also of interest is the Boone name as my grand mother was in the family tree of Hannah Boone and John Stewart. She was the sister of Daniel Boone. This is shown on the Ancestry family tree of my son, Michael D. Riggs. I am not a member of that orginization so cannot access it. I would be interesting to discuss this further with you
