And the original posting to the RIGGS Message Board offered to send a copy of "More About The Riggs", not "Genealogy of the Riggs Family Vol. II" which as far as I am aware does not exist. I imagine J.H.Wallace entitled his book Volume I in the expectation of receiving more information following its publication, which he could then publish in a second volume, but this volume never materialised. Still, it's generated the most activity on this List that I remember seeing since I first joined it almost six years ago! @¿@ Geoff Riggs - Chepstow, South Wales, UK ~ RIGGS Surname Study www.riggs.org.uk ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (@¿@) Searching for {~} the Missing Link ! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eileen" <irwinfamilygen@worldnet.att.net> To: <RIGGS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 5:27 PM Subject: Re: [RIGGS-L] Re: Genealogy of the Riggs Family Vol. II? a matter of inquiry > RE: Genealogy of the Riggs Family Vol. II > > Please correct me if i am mistaken but I have understood that while the > "Message Board Posts" are gatewayed to the Mail Lists, the reverse is > not the case and that replies to the "Message Board" post need to be > posted on the Message Board. > > And do we really need 25 replies on list saying "Please send me a > copy"? Message Board Posts automatically appear as messages to the Riggs Mail List, the reverse is not the case. Messages sent to the list are archived but they are not posted on the Message Board unless you do that as an additional action. Replies to message board posts must be posted on the Message Board and will also appear on the Mail List. If the reply is sent to the list the Message Board will not know about it. In any case, personal messages or requests for some item should not be sent to either place. They should be sent directly to the individual concerned. Therefore, anyone wanting a copy of "More About the Riggs" should e-mail a request directly to Sterling Bridges (lusterrd@bellsouth.net) . Please do not "clutter up" the message boards and the mailing list with these requests. Thank you for your cooperation. Richard (Riggs listowner and message board administrator).
Me too please... Thanks, Carolyn
Eileen, you are certainly correct. I sent mine that way only because I had deleted the original address of the person who offered it. Please excuse me. Tim, Sorry I haven't been keeping up as closely as I should have. Is this volume solely about TN? On the chance that you may know of some who came to TN from VA or NC, I'd like to ask once again if you (or anybody else) has a record of a Mahala RIGGS who married Elkahah LEWIS, mid-19th century in or near Surry Co., NC. This is one of my really tough brick walls, so I don't know who her parents were. Her relatives could well have moved to TN. I don't know whether my computer can handle a whole book. How long is it? Mahala Riggs is in my father's maternal line. We plan to have a male cousin tested for that lines mtDNA. It would of course not be a Riggs line but would take Mahala's maternal line back--however far it can go.
