    1. Re: [RIGGS-L] Riggs family WVa
    2. Dear Fellow Researcher, That is a true Riggs line, emphasis on the "s" at the end. We are a Rigg (no "s") line out of Maryland that added the "s" in the South, along the way. I have collected some stuff on this line. I will try to dig it out but as I have a family member with a health crisis, may not be able to do it soon. Re-remind me sometime at the end of the summer. thanks, Charlotte Rigg Nugent

    2. I am descended from Eleanor Riggs Franklin, the daughter of Rev. William Riggs, who was born 1750 in MD and died 1833 in Washington, PA. His first wife was Mary Dodson, second was Elizabeth Howe. Their son James Riggs, born in Washington, PA in 1778, died 1871 in Moundsville, Marshall, WV. Another son, Thomas Riggs, was also in Marshall, WV. Steade Craigo

    2. Dear Ms Nugent, Sorry, no bells ringing. But thanks for thinking of me. A Stephen Riggs came from MD into Washington Co Ky late 1700's as a boy and married on of my Riggs girls, Father from Accomack Co Va. No connection found with the two Riggs families. I have plenty of Williams, One from Accomack Co Va and others his descendants. I have no record of any of mine being in West Virginia nor North Carolina. Thanks David Harrison Riggs

    1. Re: [RIGGS-L] Riggs family WVa
    2. Dear Riggs connection: This may be the Rigg or Riggs family that I have tracked from time to time. Are the male ancestors either Stephen or William, rhe latter known as "Uncle Billy" Riggs? If so they are a branch of the Rigg/Riggs family from North Carolina who came to WVA about 1810 or 1820. Billy Riggs is credited with having the first ferry across the Kanawha River. Ring a bell? I have the marriage certificate as well for Ralph and Jennie. Ralph is from Polk County, Oregon and Jennie is from Walla Walla County, Washington. They were married on 29 jun 1898 in Walla Walla County, Washington. Other names mentioned include Lois Pauling Riggs, Steven Boone, Janice Boone, Edith, and Barton Riggs. It was aquired from the Riggs Estate in Eugene, Oregon. I think it was accidently left in a box with other things. I would like to get it all back in the hands of family. Please respond to this posting if you would like to get in touch about this. regards, Richard

I'm sure you already know the naming sequences as well. The William Riggs who absconded from Kentucky and wound up in Alabama to have family numer 2 is not the father of Abraham. If you have information to the contrary, I would appreciate discussing it further but I can understand how folks
