    3. "PHOTO DETECTIVE" MAUREEN TAYLOR TO LECTURE The Westerly Historical Society and the Friends of Westerly Library will host a free lecture at the Westerly Library on Saturday, June 7th at 1:00 pm. Guest lecturer, Maureen A. Taylor has a penchant for old photos. As the author of Picture Rhode Island: Images from Everyday Life, 1850-2006, she has dusted off moments in time and illuminated Rhode Island's glory days - bustling commercial centers, stately architectural gems, life on the water, and pastoral farmland. Ms. Taylor will share her secrets of how to identify the time and other details in old photo images. A former archivist and picture editor for the Rhode Island Historical Society, she has also been a consultant to the Rhode Island Black Heritage Society. She is the author of "Uncovering Your Ancestry Through Family Photographs," and is the contributing editor of "Photo Detective" at Family Tree magazine. Family historians often overlook the evidence sitting in their photo albums. Using case studies and examples, this special presentation illustrates how to read clues in pictures taken in Rhode Island and the United States. Attendees are welcome to bring along some of their mystery photographs for Ms. Taylor to identify. Copies of Picture Rhode Island will be available. For more information, contact the Westerly Library at 401-596-2877. Driving directions are available from the Library's Web site at http://www.westerlylibrary.org/
