    1. [RIGENWEB] Narragansett Detribalization, Names on the list 1881, continued..Part II

    3. Hello listers, This list is from the report obtained at the RI State Archives. I'm posting the names of the Narrgansett Tribal Members who were on the tribal list in 1881 and who received compensation for their tribal lands. Many people have contacted me off list asking me if I had such a list, etc. I thought this would be a good place to post the names. I do not have the genealogies of the people listed though, so please no request. The full report is available at the RI State Archives, it is titled, "State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations..Narragansett Tribe of Indians, Report of the Committee of Investigation; A Historical Sketch and Evidence Taken made to the House of Representatives, at its January Session A.D. 1880, published Providence: E. L. Freeman & Company, Printers to the State, 1880. You can get the entire report (80+ pages) from the RI State Archives. Appendix: The names of pesons, members of the Narragansett Tirbe of Indians, who are each equitably entitled to one equal proportionate share of the sum of five thousand dollars to be paid by the State of Rhode Island as purchazse money for the tribal lands of said Narragansett Tribe of Indians, as decreed by the Supreme Court, August 19th, A.D. 1881, viz: Elizabeth Bent, 39 years of age Joseph Bent, 49 years of age Wm.
