Cinda, I don't have much to work with. I found a reference to a John Hall listed in " A history of Monmouth and Ocean counties, embracing a genealogical record of earliest settlers in Monmouth and Ocean Counties......" New Jersey In this book there is a page titled Genealogical Record page xxxi On this page there is a reference to a John Hall who was awarded a share of land in N.J. in 1670. It goes on to say he was probably from Portsmouth, R.I. as a John Hall is named there among original settlers. Again in N.J. John in 1722 is listed as a witness to a Richard Hartshorne's will, I'm not sure if this is the same John Hall but I think it is. There is also again in the Monmouth co. book a Benjamin Hall listed for the purchase of land in 1702 (could this be a son of John?) The above mentioned Richard Hartshorne married Margaret Carr in Newport, R.I. on 11-27-1670. I am hoping to find out more about this John Hall. How long was he in R.I. and is there any way to determine if he had other family members living near him. Richard Hartshorne according to N.J. information was a prominent member of the Quaker society. I don't know if John was also. Hope some of this is of some use to you that you maybe able to find something.
