I live less than two hours away so never stay there, and always drive. For RI Hist. Soc., I usually find a spot nearby on the street, sometimes even out front. One way streets aren't a problem if you just realize you can probably take the next one in the direction you want -- most of the streets around the Hist. Soc. are pretty grid-like ( except for a few that dead-end unexpectedly). Coming from the north, I take 95 right down to 195 east, then Gano St. exit and loop back to Hope St. - it seems the least complicated and quickest of several options, although a bit longer on the highway. There's a nice restaurant, Rue de l'Espoir (trans. = Hope St.) just at the end of the next block south on Hope, open for lunch and dinner. Now if the Hist. Soc. would just expand their hours again and stay open on Saturdays... By the way, the RI State Highway Dept. publishes a map of RI, new every year or so, that is absolutely great -- basic to getting around there. Don't leave home without one. Jane
