I have the opportunity to visit next month for 2-3 days while my daughter picks up a friend from college. I am looking for any suggestions or hints for "must see" sites or experiences...preferably indoor (in case of bad weather) and outdoor. Also, if there are any conveniently located hotels/restaraunts in walking vicinity I would appreciate recommendations. I will have a car and don't mind driving but know parking is many times an issue. Prominent area direct family lines include Alverson, Sayles, Olney, Smith, Williams, Phillips, Mowry. Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions. Sincerely, Elizabeth
If you'll be in Providence, two "must-visit" places for research are the State Archives and the Rhode Island Historical Society Library. You'll be able to accomplish a LOT in a little time at both places.
