Good evening list, Fall River, Is Fall River in Rhode Island or Mass? Frank
Hi Frank, Fall River is in Bristol Co, MA. You can Google Maps for Fall River and it will give you both satellite and regular map views plus the state. In the even you were to Google a town or city name of which there were several in a variety of states, since you know where in general you are looking for your family you could eliminate those that were located far from your search area. Just Googling "What county Fall River" will give your the county & state, usually a Wikipedia result. My favorite map site is Multimaps since many of their maps, or at least the ones that I've been interested in, have "Birds eye" views which bring you down to an altitude of about 1,000 feet or less and you can do a 360 degree rotation around the point of interest on the map. http://www.multimap.com/ Linda --- On Sun, 9/7/08, Frank Patnaude <F.Patnaude@comcast.net> wrote: From: Frank Patnaude <F.Patnaude@comcast.net> Subject: [RI] Question To: RIGENWEB-L@rootsweb.com Date: Sunday, September 7, 2008, 5:52 PM Good evening list, Fall River, Is Fall River in Rhode Island or Mass? Fall River is in Massachusetts, right on the RI border. There's an interesting bit of historical info about MA/RI boundary disputes involving Fall River (http://homepage.mac.com/joepowers/mill/rhode.html). Not sure how accurate the info on that page is, but I do remember reading something along those lines in a book about the history of the City and the fact that it causes confusion for genealogical researchers at times.
