    1. [RIGENWEB] Missing Marriage Record LEVESQUE/BELL
    2. Dot Schulz
    3. I'm trying to help my sister-in-law find a marriage record for her grandparents. We have found their census reports in R.I. for 1910, 1920, and 1930. We have found her grandfather's naturalization papers which state he came to the U.S. from Canada in September of 1880 by way of Lowell, Mass. and then R.I. when he was 11 years old. He was living in Lincoln, R.I. when he applied for citizenship at age 21. His name is ELISEE LEVESQUE, born July 30, 1869 in Canada. His wife's name is PHILOMENE BELL, born 1862-1863 in New York state. They were married about 1887. My sister-in-law has contacted the Woonsocket town clerk but they had no records but told her to contact the Central Falls clerk, which she did. They have records for Lincoln and Manville (where three of their sons were born). Unfortunately, Elisee and Philomene's marriage record was not to be found. Does anyone have any other suggestions to find an elusive marriage record in R.I.? Thanks for your help!

    3. They could have been married in New York. Philomene was born there. I looked on Ancestry and it might have found her in 1880 Census. Her father was Eugene and she was born around 1873 and living in Plattsburg, Clinton, NY in 1880. Other census info shows there was an 7-8 year age difference between Philomene and Elisee, too so it made some sense to me. Or, they could have married in nearby Massachusetts! Phillip Occuish, b. 1716, converted to Christianity in 1740, became a Baptist minister, some of his descendants moved to Brothertown, NY Maybe you found his wife's grave among others- Sarah - died 1787 found in Samson Occum and the Christian Indians of New England W. 3. I think some of the Ponkapoag become *Praying Indians* along with some of the Native people from Natick, MA. Search for John Eliot, Praying Indians, Deer Island, i found a lot of information on this a couple of years ago. Also, Ponkapoag Tribe has a website http://www.canton.org/native/index.htm with historical information - looks good.
