Brayton Cemetery clean up challenge This message is for anyone with ancesters in Brayton Cemetery as well as anyone willing to help make an old Cemetery Beutifull. Dave Matteson <Usaf1135@aol.com> a volunter at Brayton Cemetery told me a lot needs to be done and that the cemetery has been abandoned. So I am challenge you to see how many people show up next Sunday April 2, 2006 from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. to help with the cleanup. I will provide refreshments for all those who volunteer! So much needs to be done and no special skills are needed! Things that need to be done: Garbage needs to be picked up, trees and bushes need pruning, flower pots need painting, brick wall needs to patched stones need cleaning ect. *The most important things you can bring is yourself and willingness to do some work! *Optoinal things to bring: garbage bags, pruning shears, rake, shovel,Flowers, pickup truck, ect Note From Dave*( I'd like to add just a couple of thoughts: the grass mowing is under contract to a professional landscaper, as it is just too big a job for volunteers. Also damage to stones could result from having too many mowers in and out of the plots. Please remember that many of the stones are not stable and leaning or pushing can cause them to go over and cause possible injury. Certain kinds can also break easily. Two years ago I did an audit of all the markers and made Corrections and additions that were posted to the RIGEN Cemetery Project site. Since then I have found a few more that have as yet to be posted. If anyone has any questions on a name in Brayton let me know I may be of help. Dave Matteson) If you can volunteer please email me at babyface557@yahoo.com to let me know you are going to be there, so I am sure to have enough refreshments for all. Anyone who can't or doesn't want to volunteer but would like to send in what they can afford for upkeep such as the cutting of the grass can donate to The Brayton Cemetery Fund c/o AAIA [Apponaug Area Improvement Association] Box 7892, Warwick, RI 02887. *If you do volunteer please feel free to make a donation as well. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
