    3. Hi Marsha, The death info is only as good as the knowledge of the people who provide it. In cases where there was a second marriage I have seen children or grandchildren of the deceased provide the name of the person they knew as a grandparent - but that may not always be correct if their knowledge of family history was lacking. My mother always referred to her grandmother's second husband as her grandfather as she never knew her real grandfather. Had she provided the death certificate info for her father she may well have given the wrong name. If you have info from a primary birth record that gives his mother's name, that is more likely to be correct. A death certificate is a secondary source for birth info.
