    3. In the records at NEHGS, there are these 3 births in Holyoke that all sound close to your person's name: Plouffe Mary Rose A. Holyoke 1887 Vol 376 P 468 Birth Plouff Rose A. Holyoke 1885 358 434 Birth parents Euclide(occ. operative) and Felina or Felicia, both born Canada Plouf Evelina Marie Rose Holyoke 1894 439 667 Birth parents Camille(occ. teamster) and Hermine(Leduc), both born Canada Unfortunately there is no image available for the 1887 record. 3. Donna, thank you, I will look into these. I know so far all the records I have found on her, census, death, children etc. state that she was born in Rhode Island. But as I mentioned my gr-aunt (she's 87 now) for some reason remembers Holyoke, MA. It is something to check on though. 3. Beth - I didn't notice your first message - but there is a Natick in RI. It's a mill village in Warwick - Kent County The AFGS in Woonsocket has many published church records for the french churches in RI. The one in Natick is St. Joseph. They have published the Marriages of St Joseph's Church (1875-1989), but I don't see the births. Holyoke is another mill town. It's in Hampden County, MA There is a list for hampden county at rootsweb.com Families moved from town to town in search better work opportunities. It's possible that some part of the family was in Holyoke before or after Natick. Maybe they started moving west from RI, and were in Holyoke for a while before they made their way to Michigan? Holyoke also had a large french canadian population. Rhode Island's adoption records are sealed, so when you write to any authorities for records, don't mention the adoption or you won't get too far. I don't think the records were always sealed, so there is hope you can find her original birth record. You could send to the RI state archives - the information is below - They only charge 15 cents, or 2.00 for a certified copy. The massachusetts archives that Donna mentioned only charges $3.00 for a record, so these are 2 good resources to use. Lisa Kenneth S. No more than two Vital Records Order Forms may be submitted at one time. Please wait for our response before sending further requests. 4. All requests for vital records must include an approximate date for the birth, marriage, or death sought. If you are unsure of the date, we ask that you include a five year period for the search (e.g., 1870-1875) as well as any information that will assist, such as parents' names, town/city of residence, etc. 5. Requests for vital records before 1853 must include the name of the city or town since no statewide index exists to facilitate a search of the early town records. 6. Photocopies of records will be provided at a cost of $.15 per page. Certified copies of state records (births, marriages, deaths recorded from 1853) can be provided at a cost of $2.00 per record. Requests for certification of pre-1853 vital records must be directed to the city or town that holds the original record. ****PLEASE DO NOT SEND MONEY**** **** YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED OF ANY CHARGES*** Note: Rhode Island General Laws stipulate that all records of birth and marriage are closed for a period of one-hundred (100) years. Death records are restricted for a period of fifty (50) years.
