    1. FORCE/VOSE NAMES, Providence C. 1827-1865 period
    2. Fran Vose
    3. Hallo listers: Seeking information on:William Chandler Force b. l793 - believe born Pomfret, Conn. Died: Nov. 3, l862 in Providence C., R.I. First wife: <Mary Ann (Morse) Force b. abt. l801 probably Pomfret, Conn. Married in Pomfret 1822 Kn own children: William Horatio Tower Force b. l823 in Wrentham, Mass. Oliver Stratton Force b,. l824, Wrentham Mary Fisher Forceb. l827, Wrentham The mother died at a young age. They relocated from Wrentham to Providence C. sometime between 1827 but prior to l830 when Mary Ann Force died May 29 of that year. William Chandler Force married a second wife, Betsy W. Cady (or Cody) on May 25, 1845 in Providence C. R.I. It is believed either relatives or friends named Vose may have taken the three children in and they were then raised under the Vose name. Oliver S. Force above is also believed to be Oliver S. Vose. An old family Bible currently with descendent in Oklahoma shows the FORCE name after the Vose name for the older entries. Oliver S. Vose was living in Wayne, Kennebec C., Maine where he married in l846 a Hannah A. Berry - children were: Geo. Wm., Betsy, Alfred Milton, Frank, Lucius Edward Vose, all born in Maine except for the last one born in Iowa in 1859/60. Oliver S. Vose started moving west about l852 stopping en route in Clayville, N.Y. and then in Seneca Falls, N.Y. during the l850's finally arriving in Iowa where they appear in the l860 census for Clinton C. We believe these two Oliver';s are one and the same as the elderly Iowa relations mentioned R.I. and Maine in family discussions. Would welcome hearing from any descendents of William Horatio Tower Force or Mary Fisher Force above who could perhaps could provide additional information. Many thanks--- in anticipation!
