Hi all The actual name for R.I. is; State of Rhode Island and The Providence Plantations. The State of R.I. was original made up of Newport,Middletown and Portsmouth which were lands east of Narragansett Bay. Providence Plantations were lands that Roger Williams owned west of Narragansett Bay. Eventually Roger Williams agreed to combine his Western lands with the Eastern lands of R.I.. The state name then became "The State of Rhode Island and The Providence Plantations". It remains the full name of the state today. This is a very abbreviated explanation... Hi Listers, Would someone please tell me the exact address to post quiries on this page. Every time I send one it bounces back with some message about "domaine name missing or malformed". I had to resort to "reply" to try again. My initial question was in regard to posting a photo. I have a photo from early in the 20th century of what appears to be a reunion of some military men, only two of whom I can identify. I know nothing of their symbols, medals, etc. Is this list an appropriate venue for posting the picture for piossible identification of any of the above? Thank you for your help!
