    3. Greetings. I am trying to determine the parentage of one Lyman Clark(e) of Rhode Island who married Am(e)y Gard(i)ner. According to a death record and obituary for his daughter Susan (we have yet to find a birth, marriage, or death record for him), Lyman Clark(e) was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island likely sometime between 1790 and 1817. He married Am(e)y Gard(i)ner (of either North or South Kingstown, RI) and may have lived in South Kingstown in the mid 1830s before moving to the Smithfield/Central Falls area by 1838/39. Lyman and Am(e)y Clark(e)s (apparent) first daughter was Lydia Clark(e)(e), born 1835-37 (in S Kingstown, according to birth records for her children). She married Albert Briggs and resided in Attleboro Mass. Lyman and Am(e)y's second daughter Susan was born in 1838-39 (in Smithfield/North Providence according to records for her marriage, childrens' birth, and her death). Susan married Ephraim Hunt Tappan (Toppan) - son of Abraham Tappan and Sarah Stockman of Newburyport, MA - and resided in Attleboro as well (Ephraim Tappan and Lydia's husband Albert Briggs were in business together). I don't yet know what year Lyman and Am(e)y Clark(e) married, but it could have been between 1830 and 1835/6 in the Pawtucket or South Kingstown area. As I said, the family apparently moved to Smithfield by the time Susan was born (1838/39). There is no 1840 census record for a Lyman Clark(e) household in Smithfield, but an 1840 census record for a Lyman *Cook* family with two young children in Smithfield may be our Clark(e)s. There is no 1850 census record for a Lyman Clark(e) household in Smithfield either, but there *is* a record for an Amey Clark household in 1850 Smithfield (with two daughters - Susan [12] and Lydia [15]), suggesting Lyman may have died between 1840 and 1850. Apart from a possible death record for Am(e)y Clark(e) in Attleboro (January of 1880), this is about all the information I have now. Thank you for any help you might be able to provide. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
