I am looking for any and all information about the Olneyville Harps, a football team which played in Olneyville in the 1930's. I am especially interested in a copy of any printed material or photographs. I have two photographs of a reunion held, I think, in the mid 1950's. I will share the photos with anyone who would like a copy. Thanks, Joe Sweet
Does the book say anything about their parents? Could you put their children on this site or on my e-mail - betshergill@aol.com? Thanks
PBS 4 part series on African American genealogy starts on Wednesday, February 1. However, it may appear at a different day and time in your area.
I have a copy of Descendants of Hugh Mosher and Rebecca Maxson thru 7 generations. It appears to be a well researched book and I would be glad to do look ups if anybody needs. Dear List: I have typed up and Jan Cortez has placed on the Otsego County NY website the subject minutes. To see them, go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyotsego, scroll down a little until you find a box that lists new additions to the Otsego County website. The subject minutes are listed first thus: "12-27-05 Town of Milford Annual Meeting Minutes added. You'll find it under Towns & Townships below." Jayne perllan987@aol.com
Hello, Stephanie -- Is there anybody in your book with the surname, "BOLSTER." Thank you --- Sally (Bolster) Holcombe sallyholcombe@mac.com
Bill and All Indian Lake,I believe, was constructed as a Reservoir at a much later date. There are two rivers flowing from the lake. The river from the dam is called Fresh Meadow Brook and flows into the Saugatucket River and out to Narragansett Bay. The second brook flows out of the swampy area just east of the dam and forms a river called Indian Run that flows into Indian Run Reservoir located behind Old Mountain Field in Wakefield. This eventually flows into the Saugatucket too. The only thing I know for sure, is that the fishing is fine in Indian Lake. Charlie C Charlie Carpenter Washington County,R.I. Listers: Will SKS lookup the MARRIAGE RECORD of: PATRICK J. DOGAN and a woman named VIOLET in Providence around 1912-1922. Here is what I know: Name: Patrick Francis DORGAN ————————————————————————————————————————————— Birth Date: 28 MAY 1891 Birth Place: Ballybraher, Ballycotton, County Cork, Ireland Death Date: 8 APR 1969 Age: 77 Death Place: Providence, Rhode Island Residence Place: 68 Whitehall Street, Providence, RI Burial Date: 11 APR 1969 Burial Place: St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston, RI Baptism Date: 28 MAY 1891 Baptism Place: Church of Ballycotton, Diocese of Cloyne, County Cork, Ireland. Sponsors: Thomas Smiddy of Ballybraher and Mary Healy (His father's sister). Occupation: Engineer Father: Patrick J. DORGAN (1860-1937) Mother: Mary Catherine HARTNETT (1869-1950) Other spouses: Edna FRECHETTE of New York (Long Island?) Spouse: Violet ? Notes for PATRICK FRANCIS DORGAN Patrick Dorgan married twice. His first wife was a widowed woman named Violet from Rhode Island. I have been unable to find this marriage record. His second wife was a woman named Edna Frechette from New York. I have been unable to find this marriage record also. He served with the US Navy in World War I, but I have been unable to find his military service record. He was an illusive character ... who, I am told, sometimes used an alias, Patrick Forgan, perhaps to escape his creditors. Notes for VIOLET ? There is a VIOLET DORGAN listed in the 1926 and 1930 Providence City Directories as a widow residing at 25 Federal Street. She said she was 41 and that her father was born in Rhode Island and her mother born in Massachusetts. She paid $26 rent. She also appears on the 1935 Rhode Island Census as residing at 23 Federal Street in Providence, RI. She did not have a "gainful occupation."
This is very interesting. I subscribed in part 3, is there any way to get parts 1 & 2? Ladies; In my trusty old 1938 Edition of Collier's World Atlas & Gaz- etteer I find nothing of an "Indian River." However, in my more re- cent 1996 Rand McNally Atlas, I find an "Indian Lake;" but no Indian River. It is located East of Kingston just South of the junction of Rts. 138 & 4. There is a settlement there designated as Indian Lake Shores. The Lake is shown as having a dam located at it's southerly end with an unnamed waterway flowing ?into or out of? the dam. This leads me to suspect that the dam was erected at some point to create Indian Lake, & the now unnamed waterway was originally the Indian River. Does this make sense? Food for thought! The USGENWEB policy is the same as the Rootsweb policy, it might surprise some of you but this mail list was created by and is owned by the RIGENWEB The only thing Rootsweb has to do with it is the handling of the messages and we must adhere somewhat to their AUP I am allowed to add other rules if I wish and which I have done, nothing serious, mainly problems with off topic subjects, I will handle them myself without the advice and/or complaints from others being posted to the list If anybody has complaints about anything on this list feel free to contact me privately, posting your complaints to the list may get you banned as they usually create flame wars which are also not allowed Their is no green light to the signatures and I would be very careful of the content in them, advertising in them will get you banned from this list While we are on the subject of signatures some of you folks have signatures that are Religious oriented, while I have no objections myself some persons may have objections plus posting of Religious and political subjects to this list can get you banned Occasionally somebody will post a message about genealogy oriented books and Bibles that they have seen for sale, this is border line however I will allow it, I only wish you would not post the price Bill, I noticed you offering a lookup service on this list, I certainly hope you are not charging a fee for this service Arlan Maguire... ********************************************************************* RIGenWeb County Coordinator: Kent County Rhode Island: http://www.rootsweb.com/~rikent/ Washington County Rhode Island: http://www.rootsweb.com/~riwashin/ ********************************************************************* List Administrator: RIGENWEB Mail List ********************************************************************* Maguire Genealogy Site: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~amaguire/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Waterhouse" <wm.r.waterhouse@mailstation.com> To: <RIGENWEB-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 30, 2006 9:38 PM Subject: Re:Re: [RIGENWEB] LOOKING FOR INFO > Don: Thanks loads for your reply!
