    1. Re: HATTEN ~ KELLY ~ ALLEN > Repost
    2. Hi All again , Does anyone have any connections to these families? Is there anyone who could please help ? I have posted in the past in regards to a George H. HATTEN b. ca. 1820 ~ MA wife Lydia b. VT b.ca. 1820 ~ in 1860 they were residing in Norton, Bristol,MA ~ children : Sarah J. b. ca. 1843 ~ Silas b. ca 1848 ~ Mary E. b. ca. 1852 ~ Lydia M. , b. ca. 1855 ~ George H. , b. 1856 ~ Also in that household was a John ALLEN b. ca. 1813 RI , wf, Emily b. VT their children : Simeon b. ca. 1854 RI ~ Charles b. ca. 1856 ~ Dexter, b. ca. 1859 RI I believe there is a great possibility that the wives of Geo. Hatten and John Allen were sisters , possible nee: BASSETT. both b. VT In 1850 there was an Emily Basset residing in Smithfield ,RI at age 20 . 1870 ~ Smithfield , RI dist. 2&3 was : George H. Hatten Lydia (documented as Sylvia) George H. ~ 14 y Warren A. ~ 10 or 16? Stephen~ age 4 1870 John Allen and family were residing in Taunton ,Bristol,MA with the addition of Delia E. , age 5 1880 ~ George H. Hatten and family were in Pawtucket ,RI Some of the Allen children in 1880 in Brockton,MA : Simeon (married) to Nancy ______ Henry A. (brother) Delia E. (sister) Another connection I found (on web) son of George Hatten was son George H. Hatten Jr. m. Annie FORD and had dau. Lydia A. HATTEN b. ca. 1882 in Pawtucket,RI and she m. Charles G. O'Connell in Attleboro,MA ~1903 My questions are : 1. Was Lydia (nee : Basset ? ) previously married and possible widow of William Taylor /Tailor? 2. Was Emily the sister of Lydia ? 3. Was Sarah J. , actually a HATTEN or a TAYLOR? I did indeed find a couple of TAILOR/TAYLOR possibilities in Smithfield ,RI in 1850 with wives names as Lydia , the other Sylvia , and both had dau.'s Sarah ..... but needless to say this is of no confirmation ... I could not find George H. HATTEN in 1850 to say otherwise. Sarah J. HATTEN ( or TAYLOR ~ 1860 according to marriage record in Taunton,MA) m. James KELLEY /KELLY s/o James and Sabrina (CHAPMAN) Had children : I.Henry J. b.ca. 1860 ~ II. Silas Augustus b.ca 1863 m. Mary McCARTY in Pawtucket,RI ~ 26 Nov. 1887 Buried : 15 February , 1909 III. Emma Frances ~ b. June 1865 m. Frederick Augustus BROWN in Pawtucket,RI ~ 14 June 1883 IV. Sarah J . b. ca. 1868 ~ m. 9 May 1885 in Pawtucket,RI ~ William A. WEST V. James W . b. ca. 1872 VI . Lydia b. ca. 1876 VII. Lilly b. ca. 1879 Can anyone help with any of these family connections? I have searched census , LDS , and other places ..... Any and all input is greatly appreciated .... Thank -you , Andrea Brown

    3. This is for the person who questioned earlier about copying an old photo that had been taken by the Loring studio. I went to Staples today and told them I had a class picture taken in 1957 by a studio in Rhode Island that is no longer in business. I asked if they would copy it for me. They said as long as I sign a paper stating that, they would make a copy. Nancy

I'm also looking for families using the surname of Rochelle or as a "dit name" as in Casimere Gautron la Rochelle in the late 1700s to early 1800s. 2. Donna Potter
    3. I have found a marriage record for "widow Sarah Chappell to Daniel Billington in South Kingstown, RI on 14 Jun 1778. I am wondering if this might be the Sarah Jaques who married Richard Chappell in South Kingstown on 29 Nov 1761. I have only been able to locate Richard in the census until the 1777 military census and he disappears after that. I have not found an actual death record. Also, in the 1774 census, Sarah and Richard had one male over 16, five males under 16, one female over 16 and one under 16. Obviously the older male and female must be Richard and Sarah and the rest are most likely their children. I know of only two children, a daughter Mary who married Philip Caswell (they are my ancestors) and a son, Jackways Chappell who died 21 Oct 1786 "by being chilled in a storm" according to Nailor Tom's Diary. Does anyone know who the other children could be, or does anyone have any more info on this family at all? Is Sarah the one who married Daniel Billington??

    3. Hi John, I am not aware of one but have not looked for it either since my closest Jaques ancestor was my 3rd great grandmother, Dorcas Jaques, d/o Thomas Taylor and Mary (Mitchell) Jaques who married Updike Cooper Whitford. That's my father's line. On my mother's side I have a 5th great grandmother, Sarah Jaques, who married Richard Chappell. I believe my Sarah to be the daughter of the Nathan born 1717 and his first wife, Margaret Littlejohn, based on some SK council records and some (hopefully) logical thinking, but it seems that logic does not always lend itself to the Jaques family :) Still, your theory is interesting and worth looking at. I will also have to see if anyone has done any Jaques DNA testing.
