    3. The Potter genealogies also show that the Ichabod who was the son of Ichabod and Hope (Thurston) married Cynthia Sherman. The book is not always reliable - I have found many flaws in it - and I have not personally confirmed this particular line since most of my lines from Nathaniel and Dorothy (--) Potter come via son Ichabod and this line in question is from their son Nathaniel from whom I have only one short line. I have searched for a while to find the parents of the Ichabod Potter who married Phebe Casey and have not been able to find them. You might have to check the spelling Wickes????

    3. Hi Marsha, The death info is only as good as the knowledge of the people who provide it. In cases where there was a second marriage I have seen children or grandchildren of the deceased provide the name of the person they knew as a grandparent - but that may not always be correct if their knowledge of family history was lacking. My mother always referred to her grandmother's second husband as her grandfather as she never knew her real grandfather. Had she provided the death certificate info for her father she may well have given the wrong name. If you have info from a primary birth record that gives his mother's name, that is more likely to be correct. A death certificate is a secondary source for birth info. 3. I have Bowen's death certificate that I received from Douglas, MA and it gives his mother's name as Charlotte not Mary. So I do not know what to think of that. The towns of birth of the parents are the same on both though. ___________________________________ At 02:32 PM 2/28/2006, you wrote: >Potter Bowen Douglas 1879 vol. 312 pg. 321 > >Date from record March 1, 1879, married age 56, cause consumption, >Farmer, parents Charles and Mary of Johnson, Providence, RI. > > >==== RIGENWEB Mailing List ==== >Providence County RIGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~riprovid/ >Submit your Rhode Island Query at >http://www.rootsweb.com/~rigenweb/queries.html

    2. Listers: Lost track of who originated the Bowen POtter request. I can add more to some of the data. Eugene Everett Bown son of Bowen and Jane married Elizabeth H? He was 20 and she 18 at time of marriage. He is listed as a locomotive Fireman. Marriage in Cong. Church Whitinsville, by John R. Thurston Pastor. date Feb. 12, 1874, Northbridge records.

    3. Hi Jay - Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - You never mentioned your person's name, so I don't know if this will help you, but at the Irish of Southern New England web pages, there is an effort to record this cemetery. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ussnei/StPatProv.htm Providence St. Patrick Corner of Douglas and Chad Brown Providence, RI 02908 phone: (401) 724-3130 If your person was indigent, he may not have a stone, of course, but you never know.... Have you contacted the cemetery itself? The people who work there are generally very knowledgeable about what is where in their cem. Maybe there is a section there set aside for the people from the Little sisters? If they have the burial books at the cem. office, maybe you can look through them, starting with 1902, when your person left the home. Have you visited the American French Genealogy society? They have many published records for deaths in RI - churches, cemeteries, funeral homes.... www.afgs.org How about city directories? Have you found your person before he went to the home? Maybe you need to look for the records of some of his relatives? I can't think of anything else at the moment, so I hope someone else will chime in here.
