Hello everyone, Happy Memorial Day Weekend! I apologize for the long query but thought it better to leave it all tied together then send it out in pieces. Mirriam/Meriam Hazen daughter of Christopher Hazen married Abiathar Rodman in 1797 in South Kingston, RI.. They were in Rhode Island until before 1820 and then settled in Marlborough, CT. An early census (I think 1820) showed there were 11 in the family. (His name shows up as Abrathar, Abiathar, Biatha, etc.) Abiathar died after 1830 census in Conn. but before 1840. Conn. 1830 census showed 5 in the family. Two children 20-30, al male and a female and then a female 15-20. Can;t find his death in Conn. Did he die in RI? Meriam Hazen and her youngest daughter returned to South Kingston, RI before 1840. The daughter Mary Ann or Miriam Rodman married John D. Card, a shoemaker in Sought Kingston, RI. The mother (Meriam Rodman) lived with the Card's until she died 1860's(?). What is known of Christopher Hazen - parents, wife and children including the above Meriam Hazen? Does anyone know more about the Rodman family - Children of Meriam and Abiathar Rodman born in South Kingston, RI and finally death info on Meriam Rodman (South Kingston), her daughter Miriam or Mary Ann Card and where buried, etc. Meriam and Abiathar Rodman's children may include a Christopher Greene Rodman, Mary Jane Rodman who married Orrin Dickinson, Martha Rodman who married George Holcomb of Simsbury and William Rodman who married Silence Haling from Chatham, CT. daughter of Mathew Haling and Silence Bailey. Haling and Bailey info? Thanks so much.

Will of Philip Greene, of WG, Esqr., being aged. Willdated 1 Apr 1785, proved 27 Aug 1785, mentions wife Mary Greene. Sons, Eleazar Greene, Elisha Greene, Caleb Greene, and Job Greene dec. Daughters Zilpha Noxon & Rhoda Brown. Grandson Solomon Greene son of Job Greene dec. Granddaughter Lucy Greene. (According to Austin's VR, children of Philip & Theodosia were, Job, Eleazer, George, Zilpha, Rhoda, Susannah, Caleb, Deborah, Aimy, John. (Elisha not recorded), all born WG. Thomas Bennett of Newport came over to East Greenwich during the siege of Newport. Thomas's wife was Lydia Guarzia daughter of John. Amongst his children was a son Benjamin - who i believe was still living in 1827 at EG. He also had a son William who married Cyrene William - they lived in Old Warwick. Since the names William and Benjamin repeat at EG in a previous generation i had thought that Benjamin who m. Eliz Weaver might be the father of this Thomas. or he is his brother. We do know that William Bennett who m. Jane Sweet 1723 at Warwick - EG he had sons Benjamin, William and Thomas. The aforemtioned William Bennett is probably the William who married Renewed Wood in 1741 at EG - and is probably the William who appears inthe 1777 Mil census at Warwickover 60+. as opposed to the William Bennett over 60+ at Cranston who is more then likely the one who married Hannah Capwell in 1734. The Bennetts of Stonington and the Bennetts of Middleboro,Mass i do think are able to be kept separate from the Warwick ones. The Newport Bennetts i think never comingled with he EG and Warwick ones. jack Jack Scott ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bonnie Weber" <bonnie.travel@sympatico.ca> To: <RIGENWEB-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, May 27, 2006 10:07 AM Subject: Re: [RIGENWEB] Weaver Bennett - Cranston - Johnston - W. The 101st has had more than it's share of loses. The sacrifice that continues to be made for the principles that our country was founded upon still staggers me. When our friends and family make the list of heros enabling us to continue the dreams of our ancestors,Earth actually stops for a moment and all else seems of less importance. To all of us who count the victories and losses in our generation and those over the last 300+ years, Memorial Day leaves us with intense gratitude and thanksgiving. Each loss has an incredible effect on an ever expanding circle of family, friends and troops of men and women who selflessly "get the job done". There's no way to say "Thank You" other than to remember them and appreciate what it has given to the rest of us. Our lives are richer because of their devotion. FYI I checked the Providence Carpenter book and Cary was not listed in it. That does not mean he is not a Providence Carpenter - as Charlie indicated, he most likely is. The book just is not really helpful for the RI lines :) All my lines go back to William of Rehoboth and are all descended from Jeremiah Carpenter and Abigail Shelden. They had a son Ephraim who m. Mary Rodman and their daughter, Sarah Carpenter, married Pardon Vaughan. Pardon's daughter, Lucetta Vaughan, married Jeremiah Carpenter - they are my 3rd great grandparents on my mother's side. the younger Jeremiah had a sister, Thankful Knowles Carpenter, who married William Waite Potter - they are my 3rd g grandparents through my father :) My family tree is pretty twisted - and I'll bet I have as much Carpenter DNA as Charlie does! I have to wonder if the listing of Rogers, RI is a typo and this man actually is a native of Foster, RI? Nina Hollifield Posted on NORCAL list this morning: Stockton Daily Argus Stockton, San Joaquin Co., CA 1-5 May 1860 ************************* Tuesday, 1 May 1860 SINGULAR DEATH -- A Coroner's inquest was held over the body of John FOSTER Sunday night. It appears that he was sitting in front of the Saddler Shop of Mr. MILLER, on Main street, about 8 o'clock, a short time, when he entered the door and seated himself on a chair near the entrance, when he was seen to fall back on the floor apparently in great agony from difficulty of breathing. Dr. DOWNEY was immediately called in, but death soon released the suffering man from his agony. We are somewhat surprised that the coroner did not summon Dr. DOWNEY, as it is usual to secure the testimony of the attending physicians on such occasions, as they know the symptoms better than can be explained to a non-attending physician by an unprofessional man. The jury decided the deceased came to his death from a disease of the heart. Opium was found in his pockets. He had been talking of dying for several days; had complained of a fluttering in his breast; and on the day of his death had said he had engaged his coffin. He was aged about 50 years. He was a native of Rogers, R.I., which town was named after his father. He had been educated as a physician; but the practice being distasteful to him, he became a sailor, and had lived a long time in Central America, South America, and the Sandwich Islands. He is said to have been a well educated man. He had resided in this city about 1 year, a portion of the time working in the saddler shop of Mr. MILLER. He had evidently been tired of life for some time, judging from expressions at various times that had fallen from his lips.
