The Connecticut Gravestone Network http://www.ctgravestones.com is having a trip to New York cemeteries Sleepy Hollow Cemetery www.sleepyhollowcemetery.org and Woodlawn Cemetery www.thewoodlawncemetery.org ,.As you may know notable people are interred in these cemeteries.Leona Helmsley was recently interred in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. I know Walter Chrysler and Washington Irving are in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.Judy Garland,Nellie Bly,Basil Rathbone,Kitty Carlisle Hart( who recently died),Walter Winchell, and Ed Sullivan are in Woodlawn.I believe these listings are all correct.To ascertain you can certainly check out http://www.findagrave.com ,.This web site is not affiliated with the Connecticut Gravestone Network. The costs for attendees will be either $20.00 or $25.00,.Departure will be from East Hartford,Connecticut on Sunday,September 9TH, at 8:00AM and return around 6:00 PM,.Stops are planned in Waterbury and Danbury,Connecticut.Possible other stops.Route#84 will be followed.Ms.Ruth Shapleigh Brown who leads the CGN can be reached for further details at 860-643-5652,.     3. Working from memory here so ...... ????? Ft Dumpling was a REVOLUTIONARY WAR fort on Connanicut Island ( Jamestown is a town on that island ). The Jamestown Historical Society has a red brick from Ft Dumpling with the fort painted on it by an unknown artist that was a doorstop in my grandfathers house for several years. I donated it to them for their museum while my uncle ( a Jamestown resident ) was curator some years ago. Relatively yours, Scott The Avery family ancestors to two U.S.Vice Presidents,Schuyler Colfax and Nelson Rockefeller had a homestead called the Avery Hive that existed in Groton,Connecticut from the 1600's until it was tragically burned in the 1890's. From Thursday,September 13TH to Sunday,September 16TH archaeological work be done by professional archaeologists and volunteers on the site in Groton.Times planned are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Dr. Theodore "Ted" S.J.Davi,whose doctorate is in economic development but has an iterest in archaelogy as well possble credentialed professional archaeologists along with volunteers will be working on the site looking for artifacts. That sounds like something the Federal Government does when it is done with a fort. :-) Of course, I might be wrong.
