    3. Charles and all, All I know at this point is where the book says the "Bottom" is located. "In East Texas, they call it "The Bottom" - a strip of boggy lowland, densely wooded with giant white oak, red oak and pin oak trees at the foot of which are entangling vines, bamboo cane and native grasses higher than a horse's back. To the north is Sulphur River which for a hundred miles bounds, traverses or in flood stage flows over parts of eleven Northeast Texas counties. To the south, varying five to ten miles, is White Oak Creek, flowing strangely parallel to Sulphur River for about forty miles." Around here, a bottom is any low area through which a creek or river runs. I have hunted and fished White Oak and Sulphur bottoms, off and on, back to when all daddy would let me carry was a B B gun. This book is the only place I have seen any one place designated as "The Bottom". Wish I could answer your other questions. ---------- > From: Charles Smith <charles@pandr.demon.co.uk> > To: RIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [RIDDLE-L] Cochran and Riddles > Date: Wednesday, September 29, 1999 10:09 AM > > Thanks Gaylon for that.
