hello, my name is carol it looks like we are related the family you are researching is the same fam im researching you are right janette is the daughter of william riddell and joyce powell william was born in king and queen co. va his will which i have a copy of was executed in kentucky in1777. william and joyce moved to orange co in 1744. yes janette was born in orange co. va about 1742 and she married a james shepherd. thank you for telling of their other children all i had was francis shepherd.in williams will he states his fathers name as james and his mother as mary (dont know her maiden name)they were from scotland and james was born around 1700-1705 and they farmed until his death he lived to be very old the only problem is when i had researchers do research for me in orange co. va they couldnt find james or mary riddell would like to find out where they are buried so i can plan a trip there. also would like to find james, williams plantations and see if they are still standing. william was a very wealthy farmer.i have all thechildren of william riddell and joicy neal if you need them their children moved to kentucky and became lawyers, judges etc..... well id better go taking up to much of your time. by the way william riddell and joyce powell are my 6xgr grandparents. how about you? thanks carol e-mail jont44@aol.com
