Hi Nancy....Well Ive been looking in my Riddle's for James and Dicey Abney and what I have found in my records is that James and Dicey married ca. 1803 in Madison Co., Ky.That James and Dicey had a son William who was born 10-15-1807, who was the Wm. who married Anne Griffin in 1826 in Garrard Co., Ky. and had 5 children: Greenup B. born 11-02-1829 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. John Wellington born 08-24-1831 in Rockcastle Co., Ky. Ellen Eliza born 09-18-1832 in Pulaski Co., Ky. Mary Jane born 10-07-1834 in Pulaski Co., Ky., and Aquilla born 03-27-1837 in Pulaski Co., Ky. That William was a Black Creek Indian (?), who had a brother Robert born ca 1812. This is not my line, but I think I might have said that my line is Thomas Riddle Sr. who was born ca. 1798 in Frankfort, Ky. (parents unknown) who married Hulda Osbourne (parents unknown) born 1808 in Ky. and died 04-15-1856 in Lynnville, In., and she is buried there also. I havent been able to find anything else on Thomas Sr. I have been doing this since 1977 and it is a very large, time consuming hobby of mine...I write down every Riddle that I see and then try to get all of the familes together...I started this back in 1977 and so I do have thousands of names, which slowly I am getting in some order...but am far from being finished...a very lot of hard work, trying to do that., so joining this Riddle Group has furnished me with a lot of very interesting stories and facts. In doing this hopefully I will run into my Thomas Riddle one of these days. Hulda did have a brother who came from Ky. to Warrick Co., In. and settled there with his family. His name was Warden Osbourne...who I believe Thomas and Hulda named their first son after...Warden also had a daughter by the name of Hulda also...but that is all that I have on the Osbourne's......Now on Moses I did find a Moses (Ridley) Riddle who married a Mary Gibson, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Gibson., and children listed as Isaac born in Flatt River, Orange Co., N.C. Moses, John, Wm. Thomas (I believe the Tory) and Randolph and Tyree....I really dont have any proof of this though. When I first started this I didnt write where or who I got info from....have been all over Ind., Ky., Ill., Tn., Az. Have walked hundreds of Cemeteries, gone to (not sure) county seats in these states, libraries, census, etc....you name it..haha So if there is a name that has you stumped I might just have them somewhere in my books...Well it is 1:38am so guess I should be getting in bed, but am single so I can really stay up as long as I want...I do have 4 children James (Jimmy) who lives in Nashville, Tn. (close to the National Archives..Jerry who lives in Chandler, Az. (which is where Charles Smith is from (the one who lives in London). Janet who lives in Tulare, Ca. and Jackie who lives in Mn. (whom I am visiting for couple weeks next month..Also going to Ca. to visit my daughter there from October til January...but will still be on the puter doing my favorite thing...trying to "Solve the Riddles" . So if I can be of any help, please just let me know ok.....Loretta Riddle in Evansville, In. ----- Original Message ----- From: Alan & Nancy Abraham <anabr@swcp.com> To: <RIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 26, 1999 12:41 AM Subject: Re: [RIDDLE-L] William Riddle of Garrard Co., KY > Mary: > > Moses Riddle and Catherine Hazel have been suggested as the parents of > this William Riddle.
