TRIVA: there where thousands of children in that era name after the original "Lorenzo Dow," a famous circuit rider preacher of that day. I have a relative (ancestor) named America Jane Riddle. Does anyone know what, if any history is behind this curious but cute name "America"? We believe that last to be the ninth and youngest son of John Riddle of Owen County, KY, per 1850 census. I'm working to solidify and extend the links and go backwards if possible. A month ago, we attended a reunion of 80+ H.H. Riddle descendants and relations in San Diego, CA. I'm a Microsoft Access programmer and we live in the CA desert next to Palm Springs.
