Hi, all A tip for the confused: I just found my ancestor Coleman Riddle, b. 1801, Grant Co., KY, listed in the census index on Ancestry.com as Coleman BIDDLE. I've been trying to find out who his parents are for awhile and no luck so far. So I did a search on BIDDLE instead, and I find a Stephen BIDDLE in the 1810 Mason Co. census (Fleming Co., where Coleman ended up in, split off from Mason Co. a little after that). I find a Stephen RIDDLE in the 1820 Fleming Co. census, and I find Coleman BIDDLE and Stephen BIDDLE in the 1830 Fleming Co. census. Then I find a Stephen and a Stephen P. BIDDLE in the 1840 Fleming Co. census, no Coleman (I have Coleman's census records already, and he's listed in the 1840 census). Then there are a Stophea and a Thomas BIDDLE listed in the 1850 Fleming Co. census. Obviously, "Stophea" is far more likely to be Stephen. Anyway, try looking for Biddle when you're looking for your RIDDLE people. You might find them. Also try RIDLE, RIDDELL, or RYDELL. P.S. It remains to be seen if Stephen RIDDLE/BIDDLE is Coleman RIDDLE's father. Onward, forever onward in the chase! Jeannie Smith http://members.aol.com/WordGenius/riddle.html
