Mary, We also have a James Robert RIDDLE, supposedly born in KY. Most of the time he used the name Robert. Marilyn Frazier and I both descend from this James Robert RIDDLE, born approx. 1855. If you come upon the reference again in KY and would refer to ours. Most of the RIDDLEs we are after were in Cumberland Co, Clinton Co., and Adair County.
