Hi, As far as we have been able to tell, Moses Riddle/Ridley was the father of William Riddle/Ridel/Ridle who was the tory. William Ridel is on the 1767 tax list right next to Moses Ridel (indian). There are three possibilities, as I presently see it: 1) Moses Ridel was the father of William Ridel/Riddle (tory) 2) Moses Ridel was the brother of William Ridel/Riddle (tory). That is what John Riddle of Utah said their relationship was. 3) There were actually two William Riddle's in Montgomery Co., VA between 1769 and 1781, and one was definitely the relative of Moses Ridel. The other one may have been our William Riddle (tory). That is a suposition that some have made. I find nothing to support this theory, but until we can disprove it, I have to say it is a possibility.
