Russ Here are a couple of Texas web sites you were asking about: The Texas State Historical Association has a site which includes the online version of the New Handbook of Texas. It is a 7,000 page, six volume encyclopedia, which offers some 23,500 articles about the men and women who shaped the state. It has 8,000 community entries which includes histories of all 254 counties and some 8,000 biographies. The address is www.tsha.utexas.edu The Texas State Archives includes a searchable list of Confederate Pension Applications which includes several Riddles. A great deal of other information is available, going back all the way to the days of the Republic of Texas. The address is www.tsl.state.tx.us/lobby/arcfirst.htm I'm sure there are more, but these should get you started. Gaylon
