    3. The following is a list of the captions for the Riddle related photos which are in the book "Images Of The Past". This book is about to be reprinted. Page 2 In a postcard dated Oct. 4, 1883, this unnamed minister wrote a postcard to J. G. Riddle of Mount Pleasant concerning the possibility of visiting and preaching while in Titus County. (Copy of letter shown also) Page 14 Five generations of Titus Countians in 1913. In the lower left is America Jane Riddle Stephenson (Mrs William Mann Stephenson), daughter of Elam and Matida Riddle who were pioneer settlers of Titus County since 1846. In the lower right is Arelda Jane Stephenson Sparks (Mrs William Carroll Sparks), who was born May 14, 1846. She was the first white child born in the town of Mount Pleasant. In the upper left is Maude Ann Virginia Sparks Powell (Mrs. James Josiah Powell), who was born Jan. 19, 1876, in Titus County. In the upper right is Birdie Elizabeth Powell Day Wilhite (Mrs. Ben Wilhite), who was born Dec. 31, 1892, in Titus County. In the center is Iona Marie Day Allen (Mrs B. C. Allen), who was born May 11, 1910, in Titus County. Page 15 Five generations of Titus Countians in 1928. Page 20 Joseph McHenry Cochran (12-25-1830 to 6-1-1905) and Eliza Ann Riddle Cochran (11-30-1835 to 5-6-1907) in 1890. Page 28 Children of J. J. Powell and wife in 1907. Clockwise beginnig with seated baby: Mallie Rosemary, Elvia Othelia, Hobert Wayne, Lura Capitala, Birdie Elizabeth (as on page 14), Ora Helen and Owen Kermit. Page 29 James "Dock" Hawkins Cameron, born in February of 1848 in Cob Hill, Tenn., died Jan. 7, 1917, in Titus County. The son of James B. Cameron and Catherine "Kate" Ellen Alley, he married Matilda Melvira Riddle, daughter of Thomas Gregory Riddle and Nancy M. Morris. They had 11 children: Celesta "Lizzie", Sarah M. "Sally", Joseph Willard, Dora C., George Hawkins, Jessy M., Mary F. "Mollie", Hattie C., Cora M., Maggie, Charlie Lafayette. (James' brother, my great grandfather, Archie Smith Cameron, married Mary Jane Riddle which was Matilda's sister. In other words, brothers married sisters.) Page 32 A. Chenney Riddle, son of Elam Lewis Riddle, pictured here sometime between 1900 and 1930. Elam Lewis Riddle, who worked for the H. W. Cheney Co., a saddle shop, named his son after his employer. Page 38 A family portrait of William Carroll and Arelda Jane Stephenson Sparks produced by the Praytor Studio of Mount Pleasant in 1906. Front row, from left, are: Elmer Holland, Mr. Sparks, Mrs. Sparks and Charlie Holland. Back row: Mollie Sparks, Elam Sparks, Nettie Sparks, Paul Sparks and America Holland. Mr. Sparks was born in 1840 in Alabama and fought in the Civil War. Mrs. Sparks was the first baby girl born in Mount Pleasant, Sept. 11, 1846. The Sparks are buried in the Gladewater Cemetery. Page 55 Poloitical meeting held in 1871 at the Mark Wallace home on Washington street. A large magnolia tree still stands on the lot where the house burned in 1929. Among those present at the meeting: Goode H. Lowe, Melvin Keith, Richard G. "Dick" Batte, John Mitchell, Franklin Pierce Riddle, Jesse Gregory Riddle, William "Will" Tabb, Al P. Smart, Greene B. Dixon, William "Bill" Allison and Eugene I. Lazarus. Page 59 Stephenson family portrait taken in 1889 or 1890 in Mount Pleasant. Pictured, front row from left, are Cora Stephenson, John Stephenson and Grandma Stephenson. (I believe this is America Jane Riddle) Back row: Abbie Stephenson, Addie Stephenson, Forest Stephenson, Ruby Stephenson ands Ada Stephenson. Photo was taken by Praytor Studios in Mount Pleasant. Page 61 Members of the Riddle family. Pictured in front, from left, are (baby) Bessie A. Riddle, Minnie Josephine Riddle and Thomas Pierce Riddle. Dudly and Cordelia Riddle are the parents of Jesse Elizabeth, Bessie A., Minnie Josephine and Thomas Pierce Riddle. Page 62 James Josiah Powell married Maude Virginia Sparks on March 3, 1892. They were the parents of ten children born in Titus County. (Shows their picture.) Page 74 Students from the old high school(Teacher's Institut) in Titus County pose for a group photo in 1906. Pictured by number are ----- 55. Addie Stephenson; 56. Abbie Stephenson ------ (62 people in all) Hope I didn't miss anyone.
