Hi Bob, >Weather my Mary and her parents James Riddle and Jane Br????n are >descendants of this branch of Riddles, remains to be seen. Obviously is >was the Britton connection that drew my attention since I've been unable >to find out much about them. Boy it sure looks like you have your work cut out for you. I know the feeling well. I spent about 10 years looking for the father of my g-grandfather Smith Riddle. I tried everything I could think of. This was before much genealogy information was available via computer. When the 1870 NC census index became accessible on computer CD I ran a search for Smith Riddle and he magically appeared as Riddle Smith along with his father Nathaniel! I just about feel out of my chair. It had never occurred to me to search for Riddle Smith. Apparently the census enumerator made a slight error. <g> Long story short, after that I was fortunate to discover Dick Riddle and we have been corresponding via email since. I think we are 5th cousins. As I mentioned before Dick does the research and I just put it on the net. I won't tell you how long Dick has been searching for the father of our three Riddle brothers but he is the second generation who has worked on this dilemma! >Jim, with regards to my Boone's: John Boone was b. May 21, 1852. His >death certificate list his parents as "UNKNOWN", but shows John born in >TN. He was a coalminer. I hope you are a patient man. It seems that every time you answer one question two more appear. The Boone family that I was referring to is apparently related to "The" Daniel Boone family. How they got to western NC escapes me but cataloging the Boone families will probably be just as difficult as sorting the various Riddle lines. <g> If you would like I would be happy to add your name and line to the Riddle researchers page on my web site. Maybe you will discover a long lost cousin on the Internet who will have all the answers to your questions? Anyway it's a nice thought. <g> Please keep in touch and let us know how your are progressing. Jim jimhartung@erols.com jimcal@bigfoot.com http://www.erols.com/jimhartung
