Barbara: The Ridlon "Riddle Book" does not list a family group from Prince George's Co. MD, but it lists some RIDDELLS of Cecil Co. MD, and another group of that line just from Md, no city. At least one member of the "No City" RIDDELL's lived in Prince George's Co. in 1873, Elizabeth . The earliest of this line begins with Jacob RIDDELL, of Scottish ancestry, no city location given who came to MD about 1760, he married three times, no names given; All five of his children were born in MD. (No locations or dates) SECOND GENERATION: Jacob m Mary ANDERSON they had 12 children, he died at 40, she died at 50. John m Susan JOHNSON they had issue. (Is this your Susan Johnson?) Joseph, died many years ago. Elizabeth (see above). Eliza, deceased years ago. THIRD GENERATION: (All born in MD) James b 1 Apr 1820 m Ellen SANBORN of Ireland, 6 children, Carpenter, Lived in Wash. DC. Mary b 24 May 1822, deceased Sarah 29 May 1824 deceased. William b 26 Jun 1826, of Wash, DC. Emily b 2 Mar 1828, deceased. Susan b 6 Jan 1830, lives in Blagdensburgh. Jacob 3 Oct 1832, deceased. John b 13 Oct 1834, lives Wash. DC. Charles b 30 Apr 1836, lives in VA. FOURTH GENERATION: (All children of James) Mary b 1 Sep 1849. Christopher b 10 Feb 1851. James b 23 Mar 1853 d 15 Jul. George b 10 May 1854. Luiladda b 1 Dec 1856 d 7 May 1861. Austin b 8 Mar 1859 d 25 Apr 1863. The Cecil Co. group starts with Levi (Humphrey?) (Scotch/Irish) He was of aristocratic stock and disowned by his family for marrying a servant girl. Maybe connected to Glasslough, Scotland branch of RIDDELL's. SECOND GENERATION: He had a large family but only William, Thomas, Johm, Robert, Levi, Jackson are listed. (Through THIRD, FOURTH and FIFTH GENERATION:) These two branches may or may not be connected. I can provide scanned copies of what Ridlon has to say about both families? Best Regards Jim Opperman I hope this sheds some light on your relatives. you can e-mail me at [email protected] if you like. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, February 03, 2001 6:26 AM Subject: Re: [RIDDLE-L] RIDDLE BOOK > Jim--Thank you for your kind offer.
