Stephen was born around 1730 in Ireland, probably County Londonderry or County Antrim. He came to NC from Maryland, possibly his family came from Pennsylvania before then. Stephen married Elizabeth Douthit around 1760, and their family is well documented from that point on. Have any of Stephen's descendants discovered anything about his parents or siblings? I found a John Riddle in Rowan County the same time that Stephen lived there. Certain land transactions and other circumstances leads me to believe that they might have been brothers.
