This is so weird...I have a John H. Riddle, born 1798 MD in Iron County, MO, in the 1860 census. They moved there during the early 1850's. His son, Merrideth Munrough Riddel was a doctor (went to school somewhere), and was married in 1856 in Madison County Mo. John died at 86 years of age. M. M.'s first son was John Franklin Riddel born 1857 and died in infancy. His second son was Samuel Rufus McKnight Riddle. He was born 1868 in Iron County, MO. There was another Riddle in Iron County (Union Township) in 1870 by the name of David and wife Anne. We think he may also be related. Most of the family moved to Randolph County in the mid 1870's and Samuel married in 1898. They moved back to Ripley Co., MO and their first born son was also John Franklin, who died in infancy.
