Does anyone have a Lewis Riddle who married Caroline Wright during 1842 in Gilmer Co. GA? I am interested if they were from NC and who their parents are. Thanks for any help, Sandy in Southern CA

Riddle, had an uncle Lewis at Green Mountain or Burnsville, NC. Uncle Lewis had the reputation of being a great story teller and humorist. My cousin, Carla, is from that area and has a lot of background records. You can email her at [email protected] Around 1908, my grandfather met uncle Lewis coming up the valley, high-tailing it on a horse. Grandfather yelled "Tell Me a big Lie!". Uncle Lewis replied, "I haven't got time, Granny Garland has died and I'm going to Burnsville and get the burial clothes!" My grandfather went and got a lot of neighbors and dug a grave beside the grave of Granny Garland's husband.
