Hi Donna: Welcome to the Riddles. I know someone on this list will be able to answer your questions. I am still trying to link my James R. Riddle to this line. What I find extremely interesting is your last name of WITT. I descend through the WITT line. My gggrandfather Terry Riddle (son of James) married Mary "Polly" Patterson. Mary's mother was Rhoda Ann WITT Patterson, dau. of Abner and Anna Churchill WITT. Any connection? I am fairly certain from the information I have received and found that James R. Riddle was the son of Happy Rogers and William "The Tory" Riddle. He migrated from NC into TN and was found in TN in the early 1800s. He migrated to TN with Robert Patterson and they both received land grants. He is on the 1836 and 1837 Hamilton County Tax Lists living next to John Riddle. I do not know if John is a son of James or is a brother to James at this point. Anyway Welcome, all our Riddle cousins on this List are a great bunch of people, full of information and humor.
