Dave: Yes, I do know that Riddle is North of G.P. I lived almost all my life in Southern Oregon and have been in and through the little towns of Riddle and Canyonville many many times. At that time, I never realized there could be a connection to the town of Riddle. Of course, my Dad never mentioned it, in fact in has been only the last year that I found out I had Riddle kin. Incidentally, I may have posted this several months ago on this List, but my Dad had a Navy buddy (WWII) named David Thomas Riddle. Our families kept in touch long after Dad and David retired from the Navy. The last known address I have for him was in Redondo Beach, CA. I believe his wife's name was Betty or Elizabeth. Are you related to him in any way? I do not know anything about him such as where he was from. I am now wondering if he was really just a Navy buddy or if he in fact was related to my Dad. David T. Riddle served aboard both the USS Hornet and the USS Wasp, while my Dad served aboard other Navy ships during WWII and was never aboard the same ship as David. Hmmmm, this does lead me to speculate that maybe David and Dad were kin. Sorry to ramble on like this, but thought you might know something about this David Riddle. When you visited the little town of Riddle, Oregon, did you find any history on the Riddles that the town was named after? Carol. I being a Riddle, just stopped in the town for gas (at the time was really not interested in family history) just to say I was there. My father was very secretive about his roots. Years later so to speak, I had to buy a bigger shovel to unearth information. It might be also that his dad never told him much. I have never run across another Riddle during my 20 yrs in the service. I also do not know the D T Riddle you are talking about. Only wish I knew. You may be right and both your father and D T were relatives. I guess this is why we do this, pain or victory. Thanks.
