    3. Hay Wanda, thanks for the reply. I will answer your note and repost my Riddle for the group. My information is all over the place so let me try to get it all down. Lets start with the family story; Eliz was married to a Dr. (no name) that served in the Civil War. He was killed at the battle of Pea Ridge. Eliz took her son and left town before the Yankees took over. Elizabeth b. 1826/7 had one son, John b.1858 AR. John's death notice stated Mother, Elizabeth Riddle parents unknown from KY. Father unknown from unknown. Next we have a 1860 census from Benton Co. AR; Elizabeth Hurt/Hurd, 33 KY, John 1 (2) AR, living with John Long b. 1811. Elizabeth married John Long about 1865. 1870 Kent Co MI, Elizabeth Long 40 with son John 11 from AR. From this point on we have extensive information. >From here we can trace both John 1811 and son John 1858 with Elizabeth 1826 to their graves. The name Hurt/Hurd on the 1860 census is a mystery or riddle, ha ha. Was Eliz living with the Hurt/Hurd family and the name was wrong? Don't know, so any help or new rocks to turn over will be appreciated. Jim GA

    3. Hi Jim, Thanks for getting back to me with more information. Question: Where did the battle of Pea Ridge take place? There's a Pea Ridge in Estill Co KY, although I haven't heard of battle taking place there. There's a Pea Ridge in AR too, almost on the Missouri border, and close to OK. The Elizabeth Riddle I mentioned earlier, dau of Col. John Hugh Riddell, has a sister Nancy J., b 1838, who married Benjamin Franklin Rice, Sr. The following are my notes on Nancy J: "1850 estill co ky census, age 12; estill co ky marr vol 4 - 85, no surety required. signed Benjamin F. Rice. Moved to Arkansas where husb became a US Senator from that state. Not noted in father John H. Riddell's will, Will Bk E, Estill Co Ky, dtd 28 Oct 1863, page 97 Suppose to have had 3 children. Those children are Laura, Fannie, and Benjamin Rice, Jr, who became a lawyer and practiced in Tulsa, OK. This info is from the Isaac Mize Book." The following are my notes for Nancy J's husband, Benjamin F Rice, Sr.: "estill co ky marr vol 4 - 85, no surety required. signed Benjamin F. Rice. Was in the Ky House of Representatives. Moved to Arkansas. Was in US Senate from Arkansas in 1878. Supposedly had 3 children." I don't know where in Arkansas they moved. However, since Benjamin became a US Senator from that state, there should be a good record of him. Their child Laura married Harvy Riddle, b Estill Co Ky, her cousin, no further record; dau Fanny married a Mr. Bassett, no further record; and for son Benjamin Jr, I don't have a wife's name - only that he practiced law in Tulsa. This information is also from the Isaac Mize book. Question - What was Elizabeth's son John's last name? Was it Riddle/Riddell or other? I hope this will give you some clues to unravel your riddle :o) Please keep in touch and let me know how it turns out. Hope it works out for you. I think the Arkansas information is interesting. Also, if you make a connection, I'd appreciate if you would fill in some of my blanks, (please?) Thanks very much, in advance.
